International shoe fashion trade show GDS 2009 closed its doors on Sunday, 15 March 2009 with thoroughly positive results. In defiance of the global credit crunch and economic crisis more than 800 exhibitors put around 2000 collections on display. Among them were shoes for women, men and children as well as bags and accessories.

At this year’s 10th edition of the Design Attack entitled “Queen Alpin” visitors and exhibitors will experience London as a chic ski resort in the Alps, drinking gin and tonic or mulled wine and ice-skating with the Queen. For its 10th anniversary edition Design Attack invites you to a Queen Alpin Party (Friday, 13 March 2009 at 7.00 pm, in Hall 3, Design Attack Plaza).

Kids Impressionen  Over 130 suppliers of baby and children’s shoes are presented at GDS. As part of the range children’s shoes feature in the lines of many exhibitors and are integrated into the GDS lifestyle worlds. The separate themed world ‘kidwalk’ is located its own Hall 7a, close to the North Entrance.

Getting the Most out of the Kids Market

  “Children have money, children have incredible power when it comes to shopping and shoe retailers still don’t appreciate them sufficiently.” Kids’ and youth market researcher Ingo Barlovic brought along a wealth of helpful tips for his approx. 150 listeners at the third Kids Business Brunch at GDS - suggesting how footwear retailers can turn children into customers.
