In his native USA Steve Madden shoes are known for their modern design, high quality and convincing value for money. Madden draws inspiration for his urban fashion design from throughout the world. His styles are first tested in a small batch at his own stores in New York that attract shoppers from all over the world. If a style works here it is then delivered on a wider basis.
 





Madden rejects fashion dictates: “Individuality determines the look of the future. Everything young people feel good in is right as long as it is well produced. My ideas come to me while walking the sidewalks of Manhattan, London and other international metropolises.”

1990 saw shoe specialist Steve Madden set up his own business in Queens in New York State with a capital of just US$ 1,100. Today Steve Madden Ltd. as a producer, supplier and retailer of different shoe lines for men, women and children generates a turnover of approx. US$ 430 m. 140 of his own stores and more than 3,400 sales points are supplied in the USA. Added to this are customers through trade agencies in Europe, Central and South America.

The German market has been undergoing development for a year now. At present women’s shoes are available here. The target is the specialist retail trade with a high-quality range. Customers include Flip in Munich, Maingold in Würzburg, Tisapeh Shoes in Frankfurt, Mortimer.B in Mannheim, Marandino Schuhe in Karlsruhe and the mail order firm Impressionen.

Recommended retail prices for court shoes stand at between Euro 89 and 149 while boots retail for approx. Euro 129 to 299. The exclusive line Steven by Steve Madden commands recommended retail prices of up to approx. Euro 400. The lines are produced in the USA, Brazil, Italy, India and China. The Steve Madden line is represented in Germany, Austria and Switzerland by the agency Freemark Enterprises headquartered in Munich.
