WLM New Zealand
Warm in winter, cool in summer
The New Zealand company WLM New Zealand manufactures sheep's wool boots of high-grade twin-faced sheepskins. The style is popular around the globe—after the hype of the past few years, it is considered a modern authentic classic and is completely typical for the oceanic and Australian continent. Nonetheless, the shoes are functional: Sheep's wool adjusts perfectly to temperatures—they warm in winter and cool in summer. The wool absorbs an incredible amount of moisture without feeling wet. WLM is the acronym for Wear Like Me. There are styles for women, men, kids and babies, and the boots are all made in the homeland.

design attack
'Queen Alpin' in Hall 3
“design attack” is the GDS terrain for approx. 100 design newcomers from all over the globe. This separate area in Hall 3 serves as a springboard into the business world – the place to make contacts and meet international buyers. Amongst retailers this area has long since been considered a treasure trove for that something special. The 10th edition headed by the motto Queen Alpin is devoted to the fascinating contrasts of multi-layered, global youth culture.
London is hip in this scene: this is the place where tradition meets modernity, where the Royals meet the world of clubbing. As cold as ice design attack simply ships the hot British trend metropolis off into the Alps as a sophisticated ski resort. A crazy combination of independent fashion, urban and underground streetwear, accessories and lifestyle products is presented here in rustic chalets amongst mountain slopes, glaciers, Big Ben, red double-deckers and black cabs.
Music and dance performances turn it all into a real event. On its anniversary entertainment value is a particularly high priority: the climax being the Queen Alpin Party on the first night of the fair, Friday 13 March, 7 pm.

Brazilian Footwear
A Strong Mainstay for Europe’s Shoe Trade
Follow this Sign – the logo of the Brazilian Footwear trading group, an inventive variation on the national flag, leads the way to the Brazilian section in Hall 3 at the forthcoming GDS in massive style. Other Brazilian collections can be found in Halls 5 and 6.
Their special flair for trends, convincing know-how and wide range across all genres make Brazilian shoes increasingly interesting for the European market. In 2008 37 million pairs of shoes worth US$ 663.4 m were delivered to Europe. This quantity represents a 22.4% share of the country’s total exports of 165.7 m pairs.

Trend Flash Herbst/Winter 2009/10
Collected: Variety of Colour
Collected – The urban hype of the previous seasons continues but will level out in Autumn/Winter 2009/10. Entering the picture as a new trend is cheerful rural living with a slightly informal mood – great for translating in the Collected theme. Clear, complementary contrasts and strong whisky and cognac tones make for a colourful picture here. With patterns, too, inspiration is drawn from unlimited resources. The look is lavish and young and loves the mix. Almost too much is exactly right here!
Tartans, Canadians, Glen checks and kitchen patterns… checks in all their variations join in here and play a key role, not just on their own but also in daring combinations. Inspiration here also comes from arty-looking collages, Impressionist patterns, patchworks, colour blocking in two or more colours, Paisleys, classic Nordics, eastern folklore, oriental rugs, camouflage variations and many other sources …
