GDS with more than 130 Children’s Shoe Suppliers
The Big GDS World for our Little Ones
Over 130 suppliers of baby and children’s shoes are presented at GDS. As part of the range children’s shoes feature in the lines of many exhibitors and are integrated into the GDS lifestyle worlds. The separate themed world ‘kidwalk’ is located its own Hall 7a, close to the North Entrance.
Featured here on individual stands or within the kidwalk concept are international children’s shoe labels for Autumn/Winter 2009/10. At the same time, discussions and lectures will make the children’s world an informative and entertaining meeting point for the entire children’s shoe sector.

Kids Business Brunch
Making Children into Customers!
What’s in today is already out tomorrow! How can the branded shoe sector generate lasting customer loyalty amongst children and parents in times of stimulus satiation and constant change? Ingo Barlovic from the market and trend institute “iconkids & youth” from Munich knows the answer to this question and will be giving a talk on the Saturday of the fair entitled “Nothing but Kids! Making Children into Customers!” on the ground rules for dealing with children and their parents. This will be followed by a discussion offering a chance for those attending to exchange ideas and experiences.
Sunday, 14 March 2009,
12 am - 1:30 pm, Kidwalk Central Market, Hall 7a

Imperceptible on the Foot
Going barefoot is ideal for the healthy development of children’s feet and this is a fact known and propagated by the shoe sector. However, even with their first steps their little feet also need protection against the wet and cold and injury and this protection is offered by first-step shoes. So what makes a good first-step shoe? "The best first-step shoe is imperceptible on the children’s foot," say the Shoe Institute in Offenbach. Consequently, first-step shoes should guarantee the greatest freedom of movement through great flexibility in the sole and around the heel and they should be able to follow any movement of the fore and back part of the foot and heel.

Anna & Paul
Only Barefoot is Better
Anna and Paul are her children’s names and also the name of this fashionable first-step shoe label by Sonja Rendez from Cologne. Since 2001 the fashion designer has been creating “hip, high-quality and healthy baby shoes”. She received her first orders right at the kids’ playground. People had noticed the soft, little leather shoes she had sewn for her son for that transition time between crawling and walking. Today she produces two collections a year with over 35 styles in topical trend colours. “Only barefoot is better,” says Rendez.

Babybotte
THE Synonym for Children's Shoes in France
The story of children's shoe label Babybotte began with the French man Georges Bidegain. In 1936, he founded a company to design children's shoes in Pau, a town in Southwest France. Already in 1949 the Bidegain company and the Babybotte label were famous. The products became THE synonym for children's shoes in France.

Bobux
The Shoes that Stay on!
Bobux are baby shoes from New Zealand: they look cute, fit tiny feet perfectly, are made of ultrasoft, breathable leather, keep children warm in winter, cool in summer and boast a non-slip, durable suede sole that makes for a sure step. Plus – and this is likely to be most convincing argument for parents – Bobux shoes might be easy to put on but can hardly be taken off again even when little baby fingers are fidgeting wildly. The incorporated elastic holds the shoe firmly and comfortably in place on the foot “and that’s where it stays”, assures the company.

Jochie
Speciality: Narrow Lasts
Jochie International B.V. from Gilze in the Netherlands have been making children’s shoes with their famous tried and tested narrow lasts already since 1951. Until 4 years ago the company concentrated solely on the home market. But then they began distributing to their neighbouring countries.
A fair amount has also happened on the product front for the Autumn/Winter 2009/10 round of orders: new here is a complete Sympatex series with all styles now orderable with warm linings and, in response to requests from retail, also in more sizes.

Kolev and Kolev
Playful Shoes in Many Sizes
In the words of Kolev and Kolev, "Children need to play, and our shoes are made for playing." It's all about good children's shoes with the Bulgarian children's shoe producer located in Sofia; all about styles that children barely notice they're wearing—shoes that are trendy in design, expertly crafted and ensure healthy foot development. The wide selection of sizes should be especially interesting for Central European retail: there are shoes for babies, girls and boys, from size 17 to size 40.
