kidwalk: Big Choice for Small Feet

Dear Sir or Madam,

Here is your personal SHOESletter, the GDS Journal with news all about the Düsseldorf shoes fair.

As always, children with growing feet and needs represent one of the most attractive target groups for the shoe trade. In order to address this group in the most effective way, the trade must meet fashion requirements and at the same time fulfil parents’ diverse wishes.

Today, from the Kid’s World, we are introducing you to interesting labels, sustainable collections and both a partnership-based as well as environmentally-friendly e-commerce concept from the industry for the trade. At GDS from 12 to 14 March 2010 you will see the latest trends and learn how you can profit from them.

We look forward to seeing you there.

GDS presents about 130 kids suppliers
Big Choice for Small Feet

What do children’s feet need? The right shoe - and that is what GDS is offering for all target groups: around 130 suppliers of infants’ and children’s shoes ensure a broadly structured product range tailored to the most diverse requirements.

The kidwalk in Hall 7a is the location for the separate Kids’ World, this is where we focus solely on presenting shoes for infants, children and young people. But in the other halls too, exhibitors are presenting children’s shoes as an integral part of their collections.

You can see the latest shoe trends for kids daily at 15:30 hrs in the Circus of the Urban Fashion & Kids Show (Hall 2, TRENDS ONSTAGE).

Chipie
The World of Bikers and Gauchos

Chipie kids’ shoes are made for girls and exude a fresh and cheerful look. The hallmark gracing all styles is a little dog. The world of bikers and gauchos served as a source of inspiration for the 2010/11 collection. Key details are patches, metallic looks, silver patina and golden, shiny seams. Winter-fit, profiled soles and warm linings make for a grainy look. All new with Chipie are indoor slippers in felted cotton with leather soles.

Kavat Eko-Logic
Eco Shoes with an Award

For the Swedish footwear manufacturer Kavat from Kumla every child is a little prince or princess and, in actual fact, their shoes were worn by real princes and princesses because Kavat is by appointment to the Swedish royal family. As a family business high demands made on quality and styling are traditional here while innovation is a given. Three years ago the product portfolio was extended to include the ecological Eko-Logic Collection.

Kickers
Carefree Imagination

Frenchman Daniel Raufast was guided by independence, jauntiness and imagination when he “gave birth” to this shoe label back in 1970. In those days a rebellion against fossilized social norms was in full swing, jeans as a symbol of an alternative culture revolutionised the fashion scene and Kickers were designed to match precisely this mood. Denim boots became cult items.

And what is characteristic of Kickers these days? The styles are robust, practical and comfortable and cheerful and colourful entirely in the spirit of the Flower Power era. The spirit of the Swinging Sixties generation has been retained but now the focus is also on simplicity, originality and the use of natural materials.

Snipe
Sustainability right down to the Tips of the Laces

Snipe shoes are now also available for kids. Sustainability is the central theme guiding the label and there is no compromising: “Indulgence, responsibility and fun are not contradictions in themselves but an attitude to life. Leathers tanned without chromium and recycled materials right down to the tips of the shoe laces exemplify this concept,” is the company’s message.

Ricosta Online-Shop

Ricosta End-User Online-Shop
Value added for specialist retailers

How can a company’s online shop make the tills ring at bricks & mortar retail stores? A forward-looking e-commerce solution designed to support specialist retailers while promoting sustainable business has now been developed by the German children’s shoe manufacturer Ricosta from Donaueschingen, Germany in cooperation with Gaxsys GmbH from Karlsruhe, Germany. The hub for Gaxsys (Global Article Exchange System) is the end-user online shop on the Ricosta website, operated by selected authorised Ricosta dealers. Once end users order shoes via the online shop, the nearest store is given the opportunity to secure this job and ship the merchandise.
