“Buy it if you like it” is the slogan of the Iron Fist website. The creative minds behind the fashion and footwear label from San Diego don’t give a damn about conventions; their fashion is by no means meant to be understood, worn or – let alone – loved by everyone and it definitely does not slot into any fashion genre. This design is honest, impulsive and raw, pledges allegiance to “dirty tattoo-inspired street art and obnoxious colour mixes” – and in fact the elaborate artwork comes care of real underground and street artists. Ingredients from the skate, punk, hip-hop and surf-scene complete this rebellious fashion mix that manages to revisit even the tried-and-tested navy theme for summer in a marvellously humorous, heavy metal, refreshingly pert and sexy manner. Short and snappy: Iron Fist is made for individualists who create their own style.
The label was launched by two South African friends – Mike and Travis – in California back in 2001 without any market strategy and on a modest budget. In the early days a car boot served as a store. Today, the label is internationally available: in the United Kingdom and on the European continent alone over 400 footwear and fashion customers are served. The line is also sold to the USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, the Middle East and Russia. Own stores are operated in South Africa and the Czech Republic and further stores are under planning. Sales for the European market are managed out of London. The German market is handled by Sama² Distribution GmbH in Münster.
