The special feature at bags by British firm Owen Barry is their extraordinarily large range of colours and patterns. The collection includes approx. 50 models – from totally relaxed styles through to highly topical designs and everything in between. Customers can choose freely between classical, seasonal and fashion colours: a choice of at least 72 tones and various patterns that is constantly added to and tested for topicality offers retail great scope for an individual image. The bags are made of carefully selected cowhide in a smooth leather, suede or skin finish. By company accounts, some 8,000 variations are possible here.
Choice is now facilitated by the recently re-designed website where retailers can gather information on, and order direct, warehouse stock available for immediate delivery, the forthcoming order range, specials as well as the entire colour and material range.
The bags are cut and manufactured by hand using traditional methods handed down from generation to generation in Somerset, the bastion of the British leatherworking industry. Owen Barry founded his company here in 1948 and it is to this day still family run. The focus here lies on bags although the company also make garments, accessories and lifestyle products in sheepskin and leather. The origin, quality and sustainability of the hides are subject to strict controls. Without exception they come from British and European tanneries. Care is taken to ensure effluents are disposed of according to eco-friendly methods.
