Identity plus power

The Portuguese label Coqueterra is an urbane brand for both men and women. Its manufacturers are now seeking to boost the development of this brand and to expand international sales.


The Coqueterra brand belongs to the Portuguese footwear manufacturers Macosmi from S. Martinho do Campo. Their style is marked, as they put it, by a strong “sense of identity, determination and power”. They describe their visual impact as fresh, stylish and courageous and also as urbane and authentic. Its collections are for men and women, with models that are suitable for both work and leisure.

The spirit of the product line is reflected in its three-part name: COQ is the French word for a cockerel (or rooster) and is a Gallic symbol of courage, intelligence and light. UE is the Portuguese abbreviation for the EU (European Union), of which Portugal is also a member. And TERRA is the word for earth and refers to the global presentation of the brand.

Coqueterra was founded in 1997. The collection soon became popular. Quite soon, during the first few years, the company started delivering to other EU countries as well as to Japan, Canada and the United States. After September 11, 2001 there was a partial breakdown of markets. At the moment Japan is the company’s biggest export destination, and it is now aiming to step up its brand development.
