For the Bush and Much More Besides
A key aspect at Australian label R.M. Williams is that authentic bush feeling. The specialities of the house here include welt-sewn Chelsea Boots.
At Australian label R.M. Williams everything revolves around that Down-Under lifestyle. “Outback Outfitter” is the logo by-line under the longhorn, and the adventurous brand story complements the spirit perfectly: as a young man Reginald Murray Williams crossed the western and central deserts of his homeland learning to survive in the wilderness from the Aborigines and getting by on casual work until he met itinerant labourer Dollar Mick: the saddler who taught him leather work.
In 1932 at the tender age of 24 Williams founded his own company. In the decades that followed his company grew rapidly and steadily and alongside boots came saddelry wares as well as relevant equipment plus moleskin shirts, jeans and T-shirts for men, women and children. The first store opened in 1978.
The speciality of the house are oil-impregnated riding and worker boots and welt-sewn Chelsea boots. By company accounts, only the best leather is used here such as cowhide, yearling and suede. Every pair is cut from one piece of leather and made in some 80 individual steps. The styles are described as being “comfortable, durable and supple”.
A key aspect at Australian label R.M. Williams is that authentic bush feeling – although this certainly does not mean they are unable to think far beyond the Australian horizon: developed for the security checks at airports soles come with integrated Dynamic Flex
Comfort Technology. The in-built fibreglass core is guaranteed not to trigger any beeps from screening devices thereby facilitating security checks.
The label is represented on the European market by BOOTSKOMPANIET, located in Sweden.
