Henderson - Quality Part of their Genetic Make-Up
Hailing from Italy Henderson is a top premium brand, particularly when it comes to men’s shoes. And this is no coincidence – after all, the family-run company has always claimed tradition and high quality as key parts of Henderson DNA.
Few brands can look back on such a long and successful company history like Henderson can. After all, it now spans three family generations. It began over 70 years ago with company founder Giuseppe Baracco and was later carried on by his grandson Gino who decisively impacted the development of the company. Today, brothers Gianluigi and Enrico Baracco not only continue the Henderson legacy but have increased the company’s international success – as well as managing to strike a balance between traditional skilled craftsmanship and innovative design without losing sight of the brand’s heritage. “Our company is headquartered in Vigonovo, a small town near Venice in the Riviera del Brenta famous worldwide for the highest quality shoe production,” says a proud Gianluigi Baracco.
As owner and general manager at Henderson it is both his and his brother’s personal concern to continue to perfect and enhance the skilled craftsmanship developed over the decades at Henderson. For instance, the classic styles are fixed with a welt seam from the sole to the uppers uniting the individual parts of the shoe into one piece; a key quality aspect for consumers with discerning taste. However, the Baracco brothers have also developed their fashion expertise. This means they assume a creative role at Henderson as well as making all other key decisions in the company. They describe the style of the Henderson collection as sleek but discerning, marked by harmonious lines and the use of high-quality materials. Originally Anglo-Saxon in influence, today the collections for both for men and women are inspired by the creativity of the firm’s Italian homeland. Sophisticated, welt-sewn brogues enhance the portfolio alongside more rustic boot styles and soft, comfortable suede loafers. And naturally, these are all Made in Italy, from cutting right through to final finish. Henderson products are enjoyed by over 100 top customer accounts in the company’s homeland of Italy as well as many others worldwide, including names like Budapester in Berlin and Hamburg, The Eclaireur in Paris, Tsum in Moscow and United Arrows in Tokyo.
However, neither the technology nor the expertise accumulated over the years are enough alone to create an exceptional product, of this Gianluigi Baracco is convinced. “A third ingredient is needed for this, one that is more important than the others – namely the passion we have for our own work”.
