Silver Label
Trendy Bags with Social Value Added

The Danish accessory firm Silver Label from Copenhagen forms part of the importer DK Intertrade ApS and runs its business with a particularly pronounced social and ecological approach. The label was launched by Jeanette Ellebo, the firm’s Head of Design & Trend. She seeks new accessories throughout the world that set trends and can also be worn with a clear conscience.

Direct cooperation with producers ensures that working conditions conform to international standards and that the wages paid are fair. For the environment’s sake recycled materials are frequently used in production. At GDS Silver Label participates with its bag collections Candy Wrapper Bags, Sonore de Toot and Dialog.

Candy Wrapper Bags Candy Wrapper Bags stem from Mexico. The underlying idea is both as simple as it is smart and the result is totally hip: Rolls of mis-printed foil for confectionary packaging are manually cut and slit, folded and joined by dovetailing, knitting or stitching. Finally a zipper and handle are attached – and the bag is ready. Depending on the print it is particularly colourful or more unobtrusively patterned.

The bags from Japanese label Sonore de Toot are little artworks: Illustrators from all over the world paint and decorate canvas bags and pencil cases. Equally unusual one-off pieces come care of trendy Dialog Bags. These styles are made in Malaysia by deprived minorities and victims of violence or natural disasters. Some hand-woven and embroidered textiles also come from Tibet and Mongolia while trimmings from old textiles serve as decorations.
