Spain at all Lifestyle Worlds at GDS

Spain is the World Champion! In 2010 this is one of the best pieces of news for Spain and a sustainable message to the rest of the world. This country has players who form part of the world’s most successul football clubs and can also act as a sworn team in the Spanish national team.

Also playing in the top league on international markets are Spanish shoes: according to the Spanish Shoe Association FICE they are exported to 140 countries and industry insiders keep saying that this is the place to reliably source good quality at reasonable prices. Spanish fashion is young, urban, independent and cosmopolitan. This is ensured by an increasingly multi-cultural society. Over the past few years the refreshing influence of immigrants from Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe has been clearly felt in lifestyle, everday life and design.

Wide Portfolio for all Segments of the Market

Furthermore, Spain offers a wide portfolio of styles for all segments of the market: shoes for women, men and kids, collections for all occasions and genres. These include household names that are fast movers in retail as well as up-and-coming niche providers. Other convincing arguments for specialist fashion and shoe retailers: the Spanish shoe industry is predominantly composed of small and medium-sized firms and therefore in a position to respond comparatively fast and flexibly to current trends and re-orders.

Presenting sophisticated, trendy, formal or casual styles for women are such labels as BF Collection Europe, Chie Mihara, Hispanitas, Lodi, Mascaró, Menbur, Mer du Sud, Paco Gil, Pons Quintana, Pretty Ballerinas, Pura López, Quest, Si by Sinela, Vialis, Wonders and Zinda, to name but a few…

High-end men’s shoe labels include the likes of Barrats 1890, Berwick, Cordwainer, John Spencer, Magnanni, Mister, Paco Milán and Pertini.

Young fashion comes care of Brako, Bunker, New Rock or Xti.

Western boots can be found at Kentucky’s Western or Sancho Boots.

Comfort shoes are supplied by 24HRS, The Art Company, Barrats, El Naturalista, Hispanitas, Pikolinos, Rovers, Tijuana and others.

Children’s shoes are presented by Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Biomecanics, Garvalin, Gioseppo and Xti Kids, to name but a few.

Beautiful, Comfortable and Successful

“Their beautiful, plain design, comfortable lasts, high quality and attractive prices make the styles of Spanish women’s shoe label Si by Sinela so successful,” says the agency Evelyn Muth from Düsseldorf, which is responsible for selling the line in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

This means the collection closes a gap for specialist retailers: Si by Sinela offers high-quality modern shoes with flat or little heels plus proven lasts. Retail prices are between EUR 99 and EUR 129.

Kentucky Joe
100% Made in Spain

“These shoes are not only labelled “Made in Spain” – there is a little bit of Spain in every pair,” says Jose Abellon about his shoes. In mid 1970 he set up his company under the American name Kentucky Joe S.L. in Crevillente in the Alicante region. The firm specialises in cowboy boots supplemented over the last eight years by the high-fashion women’s shoe line Quest.

BF Collection Europe
Kick Off in Europe

BF Collection Europe is the name of the new Spanish women’s shoe label launched by the Paco Gil Group from Elda in Spain. The collection targets glamorous women who have a flair for and like to stand out with fashion and footwear. The lasts are unique, the style is original, the combinations are at times crazy, say the designers who also include Paco Gil’s children, Paco Gil jr. and Carla Gil. The quality of the BF styles is high, they are exclusively manfactured in Spain.

Zinda
Independent Lifestyle

The women’s shoe label Zinda views young women with a demand for casual fashion and an idependent lifestyle as its core target group. By company accounts the shoes are also comfortable and suitable for everyday use. Emphasis is placed here not only on design but also on good quality. Uppers, linings and soles are all made of leather.

Design, development and production are exclusively in Spain. The collection is medium to high-priced.

Gioseppo
Have a Nice Day

“Have a nice day” is the slogan of the Spanish label Gioseppo from Elche. Since 1990 young fashion footwear and kids’ shoes have been produced here. Gioseppo styles feed on colour, their shapes looking clear-cut and simple most of the time. Lasts are comfortable boasting a perfect fit, says the company.

The design for Spring/Summer 2011 is prominently influenced by flower-power, romanticism and vintage looks. Favoured materials, shapes and details include softly shaded leathers with an antique look and feel, soft lines, soles with wooden textures, subtle stitching, animal or graphic prints, pretty fringes and immaculately tied bows.

In denim styles generously rounded lasts provide plenty of room for toes. A Mediterranean touch is added by wickerwork-look soles while rivets and metal edges make for an urban compensation. New items for Gioseppo are jelly shoes – cheerful beachwear styles in plastic.

24 HRS
Comfort Around the Clock

When wearing shoes by 24 HRS feet, ankles and joints can move freely. This Spanish men and women’s shoe label has been in existence since 1999 and forms part of Agnelli Internacional S.L. from Elche. The name is synonymous with flexibility and comfort. Various – proprietary and patented – soles and special, hand-made welts ensure that these shoes fit like gloves by company accounts. The soles are so soft that they can be twisted.

Pimientos del Padrón? Or rather “Riñones”?
Touring Düsseldorf for Tapas

Like it loud and lively? In the probably most well-known alley of the Old Town Spanish restaurants rub shoulders with each other – almost the way they do in Madrid – all packed in summer and all controlled by Primo Lopez, who has been converting the Schneider-Wibbelgasse into a Spanish enclave since 1980. Here the das Picasso, El Amigo, Café Madrid, El Gitano. can be found, to name but a few. Right around the corner on Berger Strasse 4 is the "La Copa"– less hectic most of the time and a long-standing household name for a huge selection of traditional tapas at reasonable prices.

Far away from the throngs of tourists you will find "el Ömmes" (Wielandstraße 37) . which is very popular with locals and so also very busy, as you would expect. As the name already suggests, this place demonstrates just how close Rhineland and Spanish cuisine and lifestyle can be. Very popular with patrons is Lorenzo’s cinnamon chicken – make sure you reserve a table to taste it.
