Comprehensive Programme of Lectures at Speakers’ Corner
Once again this season GDS will have many interesting lectures and guest speakers in store for its international audience. A comprehensive Programme of Lectures at the Speakers’ Corner in Hall 7.0 will enable trade visitors to start the next round of orders well informed and with new impulses. In some 20 lectures international speakers will provide detailed trend information on Autumn/Winter 2011/12, invite visitors to panel discussions and present online concepts.
As an introduction to GDS the Order Information Event by TextilWirtschaft presents trends for Autumn/Winter 2011/12. The magazine’s two editors Jelena Juric and Gudrun Allstädt will provide information on the latest fashion trends from international metropolises as well as initial ordering tendencies for apparel – plus what shoes and bags perfect the look.
Nicoline van Enter, specialised in young fashion footwear and sneakers with her trend agency Y Trends, will also be reporting on the trends for Autumn/Winter 2011/12 in various seminars. Furthermore, under the “Join the Early Bird” heading she will already be looking beyond this season and presenting the first tendencies for Autumn/Winter 2012/13. In the seminar Kids’ Trends for Autumn/Winter 2011/12 and beyond Nicoline van Enter will discuss general developments on the children’s shoe market. Another exciting talk deals with “Developments in Eco Footwear”. Visitors here will be informed on the latest ecological materials and on their use in shoe manufacture.
Smart materials that promise comfort while walking as well as added benefits are very much in fashion. Smart fabrics are also booming in the wellness segment. Clever shoes that can do more than just look good are going down extremely well with customers. At the panel discussion “Wellness meets High-Tech – Smart Shoes, Fabulous Fabrics” sectoral experts go in search of the perfect shoe. Dr. Gerhard Bachmaier (Högl), Martin Hübner (Marc Shoes), Robert Bendel (Gore) along with Uwe Thamm (PFI/ISC), Patrick Hermanns (Hermanns-Schuhe) and Wolfgang Gruschwitz (Retail Design) will be answering questions like: What can smart fabrics do to make our shoes comfortable to wear round the clock? What demands are made on today’s shoes and why does the formula ‘fashion plus wellness equals more turnover’ work?
Those interested in selling shoes online can attend two seminars on this topic. In 2004 JJ Footwear was the first shoe firm to develop boots in different calf widths and now sells these alongside its other shoes on its website www.jjfootwear.nl. Carl van der Putten, CEO at JJ Shoes B.V., will be revealing the secrets of this successful wide-leg system in his lecture “Selling Wide-Leg Boots on the Internet”. In his lecture “Becoming the Largest Shoe Portal with your Online Shop” speaker Alexander Korn, co-founder of the online shoe portal “SHOOKS”, will explain the idea behind his information and sales portal. His concept is based on the pooled presentation of many online shoe stores on one sole website.
GDS offers other informative seminars and lectures in the Speakers’ Corner lecture arena including ones on topics such as shop window decoration and trends for Spring/Summer 2012. For an overview of the entire programme including lectures and seminars click on the following link.
