"Do your shoes have your back?"
The panel discussion ”Do your shoes have your back?“ closes with a clear result
More and more people moan about backache. Throughout that they are handicapped in their daily routine. Approximately 60 –80 % of the German population have had such troubles at least once. About 40 percent of the population suffers from chronic pain. The reasons are versatile. Many reasons for trend expert Dr. Claudia Schulz to discuss the topic “Do your shoes have your back?” with business and medicine experts at the GDS.
At the beginning, the experts agreed about the fact that high-heels look good at women and lengthen the silhouette to complete the whole look. But they cannot resolve the question if heels could harm the health or not.
Stefan Yoon, marketing director and product expert of Ganter, emphasized that heels with about four centimeters are totally acceptable. “There is a rule of thumb, that you shouldn’t wear high-heels too often and arrange a balance for your feet”, he states.
To find a shoe that suits you style-wise and health-wise, it´s important to get information in specialist stores, says Thomas Bauerfeind, director of the shoe brands Berkemann and Solidus. He advises not to go to a shoe- discounter.
Hartmut Schüle, representative of the company Oesterle, had a good shopping advice as well. He said that customer should take their most comfortable pair of shoes with them, when they go shopping. By the basis of your shoes the sales assistant can see important characteristics of your feet, e.g. the fitting shoe form and consistence.
The résumé of the experts turned out clear: Sales assistants have to be trained concerning this matter and the customers should be sensitized about this subject.
Host Purschke of the association of young innovative specialized shoe and spots merchants GMS already announces arrangements: There is going to be found a training academy for the sales staff. Additionaly to that, next year a national pr campaign “Shoes against back pain” will start.
