Best Then. Better Now.

The claim “Best Then. Better Now” sums up the success story of US firm Timberland in a nutshell. With inimitable deck shoes and the robust outdoor classic Yellow Boot this company has been and still is adding chapters to footwear history. In Spring/Summer 2017 highlights include lightweight summer boots – some made of recycled materials – and deck shoes with functional SensorFlex™ soles.

“The more you know about the past the better you are prepared for the future,” says Mariano Alonso, Vice President of Sales at Timberland, commenting on the links between tradition-rich Timberland and technological innovations. The US firm was founded by the Swartz family in Boston in 1973. Back then only rugged, water-proof work shoes were manufactured to fit the rough climate on the American east coast. Now there is a complete lifestyle package on offer. The leading principle “Heritage meets Innovation” is combined with authentic style in conjunction with modern performance, function and an ecological mind-set.
In its 2017 Spring/Summer footwear collection Timberland focuses on rolling out its SensorFlex™ sole technology, which will for the first time also be used for their deck shoe classics – which have incidentally been around since 1979. For men there are styles like Tidelands 2Eye and Lakeville 2Eye in full-grain premium leather or nubuk. Women are offered the Lakeville 2Eye in suede with 360° lacing. The incorporated  SensorFlex™ sole technology offers excellent wear comfort and grip on every surface. The outsole of the Tidelands 2Eye consists of 34% recycled rubber while for the Lakeville 2Eye it is up to 15%. The classic styles are traditionally handmade. Favourite colours include dark red, olive and medium brown. Light colour accents come care of pastel shades such as light green.

Making references to the military trend a new line of light summer boots with great wear properties is presented. They are called Cityblazer and are made of hard-wearing premium leather or of Thread™ – a woven canvas with a high percentage – up to 50% – of recycled polyester from PET bottles. The lining-free finish makes for airiness and the special coating is water-repellent and grease-resistant. The breathable, anti-microbial OrthoLite® footbed guarantees comfortable cushioning and excellent support while the highly profiled rubber sole ensures good grip.
Timberland is a 100% subsidiary of the VF Corporation and designs, develops, markets, distributes and sells high-quality footwear, apparel and accessories for people who love nature. Timberland markets products under the brand names Timberland®, Earthkeepers®, Timberland PRO® and Timberland Boot Company®.
