Breaking New Ground
Portuguese shoe manufacturer Coxx Borba claims to deliver the optimum footwear for specialist retailers in Germany and the Benelux countries. A re-design and attractive value for money are meant to inject a fresh breeze.
“Fed up with merchandise from India or the Far East? Looking for an alternative to shoes that are already available at your competitors’ stores? On a quest for shoes that look like € 199 but only cost half the amount?” These are the questions Torsten Lasar, Sales Director of agency Lyno GmbH, addresses to his customers in a mailshot. And straight away he serves up the answer on a silver platter: Coxx Borba. This Portuguese shoe brand is breaking “new design ground”, he says and is planning to launch a pricing “quality offensive”.
For Autumn/Winter 2017/18 the collection is said to be geared to the German and Benelux countries as perfectly as ever thanks to a new Design Director from the Netherlands. Lasar wants to finally convince retailers with high quality aspirations and comparatively moderate retail prices somewhere between Euro 89 and Euro 119. Needless to say, proven bestsellers such as their laced boots “Agoz” with a recommended retail price of Euro 99.95 will continue forming part of the range.
Coxx Borba 1996 was established by Antonio Borba in the town of Guimarães in Northern Portugal. The company initially acted as an agency but soon its own men’s shoe line saw the light of day and a few years later a women’s line was added. The style is described as “casual with a chic slant”. The range also includes sporty sneakers. The collection is broken down into ten groups of four to five styles each that come with different uppers.
The family-owned firm produces exclusively in Portugal and the materials are also sourced there. Approx. 800 pairs of shoes leave the factory every day.
On the German market the collection is handled by Lyno GmbH from Dormagen, an agency specialised in marketing international shoe labels that also takes care of after-sales service. Showrooms are operated in Hamburg, Sindelfingen, Munich, Neuss and Berlin.
Coxx Borba can also be commissioned with private label production -the minimum quantity for this being 125 pairs. Upon request the styles can be developed in direct cooperation with the company’s design team and with short lead times.
